Why do we want to open a truly healthy family hotel?

The long and the short of it is because being healthy is a bit of a buzzword in this day and age – but nobody does anything to actually live in a healthier manner. We want to stand out from everyone else, and prove we can talk the talk while walking the walk.
Sustainability has become a buzzword in the last five years. All of a sudden, everything has become sustainable. Even Amazon markets itself as sustainable. Well. Being healthy is something that is pushed hard in marketing – indeed, we’ve seen claims that chocolate bars for children are supposed to good for their development, and the same is said about Nutella. Back in 2008, a Canadian study had already proved that nine out of ten children food products contained too much sugar, salt or fat. And what has changed since then? Absolutely nothing.

We grew up in the mountains, surrounded by nature, and this is where we want to open our truly healthy family hotel. We know that fish fingers and infinite Coca Cola on tap cannot be the future of the family-friendly hotel segment. So, what can we do? Maybe we’ll give up on a plastic slide. We’ll give up on fries. We’ll give up on videogames in the playroom. We’ll give up on packed juices in the morning. And dinosaur nuggets at the breakfast buffet. Maybe we we’ll do away with the buffet altogether. But is “giving up on something” the right concept for what we want to do? If we don’t serve fries, will families even consider booking a holiday with us? What do you think?
